OPERNKONZERT IN POTCH – AUCH DORT SCHLANKE STIMMEN UNBEKANNT

Suedwestlich von Johannesburg liegt das schoene Staedtchen Potchefstroom, dasz die “Northwest University” beheimatet. Dort wird schon seit mehreren Jahren durch die Professoren Conrad Cupido und Santisa Viljoen und deren Mitarbeitern die Gesangs- und Musikausbildung auf hohem Niveau gepflegt. Die Musikfakultatet ist eine richtige Brutstaedte fuer beindruckende Saenger. Einer, der Bariton Kamohelo Tsotetsi hat ab September Engagements nach London erhalten. Die mit den Spitznamen “Pukkies” ausgezeichneten Studenten veranstalteten am Samstag den 29. Mai in der Miederpark Gemeente Kerk ein Abschiedskonzert, mit dem auch seine Finanzen unterstuetzt werden sollten.

Geboten wurde eine breite Palette aus der Opernwelt und der Chormusik, dargeboten durch den Kammerchor von Potchefstroom.

Der Chor wurde von Sidwell Mile dynamisch gefuehrt und sang sicher und stimmmaechtig  das Stabat Mater von Rossini, Ave Verum von Mozart, Mankanisi, ein suedafrikanisches Bergmannslied, Wildsbok, eine Psalmvertonung durch eine suedafrikanische Komponistin  und wirkte an Szenen aus Lucia di Lammermoor und Nabucco mit.

Das Opernprogramm fuehrte von Le Roi d’Ys, La Wally, L’elisir  d’amore, Nozze di Figaro, Lucia di Lammermoor bis (Teil 2) Rigoletto, Don Giovanni, Aida, Tosca, La Traviata, nochmals Lucia und Nabucco.

Alle Saenger ueberzeugten und zeigten hohes Niveau, gerade in den Ensemblestuecken. Kurze Bemerkungen zu einzelnen Glanzlichtern: Busi Sithole, Mezzosopran glaenzte in’ Un di, felice eterea’ ( La Traviata), Sibusiso Simelane, Tenor  ueberzeugte mit ‘Puisqu’on Ne peut’  (Roi d’Ys) ,Sibabalwe Yoko, Tenor  strahlend mit ‘Celeste Aida’, Tshegofatso Letokwe, Sopran  sehr beeindruckend mit ‘Vissi d’Arte’, Lukhanyo Monco, mit Don Giovanni’s Champagnerarie , ein eleganter Bassbariton, bitte nur Mut ( vorhandene) Kraft einzusetzen dann   ist’s perfekt; Samkelisiwe Monco ausdrucksstark mit’ Ebben, ne andro lontana’ (La Wally)  (Wagnerpotential! Sie wird in SITTOPERAs ™ Programm “Endlich Wagner!” Mitte November eine der neun Saenger sein) und Kamohelo Tsotetsi glaenzend und elegant in ‘Cruda funesta smania ‘ (Lucia) und Figaro’s ‘Non piu andrei’ .Allen diesen jungen und iSaengern sei in diesen turbulenten Zeiten Glueck bei Ihrer weiteren Karriere zu wuenschen.

Die Ueberraschung des Nachmittags aber war die junge Yolisa Ngwexana, ein lyrischer Sopran mit voluminoeser aber dennoch fein dosierter Stimme, bezauberndem Charme, erstklassiger Buehnenpraesenz und beindruckender Austrahlung. Sehr ueberzeugend als Adina und Gilda in einem Duett mit Kamohelo Tsotetsi . Da waechst etwas Kostbares heran, bitte gut pflegen. SITTOPERA ™ ist ueberzeugt, dasz sie die fuer Richard Strauss notwendige Silberstimme besitzt. Naechstes Jahr in der Insenierung des “Rosenkavaliers” singt sie die Sophie. 

Engelie Le Roux begleitete sicher und gut; ein besseres Instrument als ein pianoaehnliches elektrisches Dingsbums  waeren Ihr und den Saengern zu vergoennen gewesen.

SITTOPERA ™ hat Kamohelo Tsotetsi eingeladen noch im August ein Konzert in der Reihe  “Fine Talents & rising Stars’ im Rand Club, Johannesburg zu geben.

Anerkennung verdient auch das graphisch wie inhaltlich sehr gut gemachte Programm. Da wurde mit Herzblut gearbeitet.

OPERA CONCERT IN POTCH – ALSO THERE SLIM VOICES UNKNOWN

Southwest from Johannesburg the nice small town of Potchefstroom is situated, home of the “Northwest University”. Since many years singing and music education is cultivated there on a high level by professors Conrad Cupido and Santisa Viljoen and their teams. The faculty for Music is a real breeding ground for impressive singers. One, baritone Kamohelo Tsotetsi has received from September on engagements in London. The students affectionately nicknamed “Pukkies” arranged for him on Saturday 29^th of May at Miederpark Gemeente Kerk a farewell concert with which also   his financing should be supported.

A broad variety was offered from the world of Opera and chorus music, presented by the Potchefstroom Chamber Choir.

The choir was conducted dynamically by Sidwell Mile and did sing secure and powerful in voice the  Stabat Mater by Rossini, Ave Verum by Mozart and Mankanisi, one South African miners song, Wildsbok, one composing of a Psalm by a South African composer and participated in scenes from  Lucia di Lammermoor and Nabucco .

The Opera program guided from Le Roi d’Ys, La Wally, L’elisir  d’amore, Nozze di Figaro, Lucia di Lammermoor up to (part  2) Rigoletto, Don Giovanni, Aida, Tosca, La Traviata, once again  Lucia and Nabucco.

All singers convinced and did sing on a high level, including the ensemble pieces. Just short notices to separate shining lights: Busi Sithole, Mezzosoprano brilliant in’ Un di, felice eterea’ ( La Traviata), Sibusiso Simelane, tenore  convinced with ‘Puisqu’on Ne peut’  (Roi d’Ys) ,Sibabalwe Yoko, tenore  radiant with ‘Celeste Aida’, Tshegofatso Letokwe, soprao very impressive with ‘Vissi d’Arte’, Lukhanyo Monco, with Don Giovanni’s Champagne aria , one elegant Bassbaritone , just courage to set in doubtless present power then it’s perfect; Samkelisiwe Monco strong in expression with “Ebben, ne andro lontana” (La Wally)  (Wagnerpotential! She will appear in SITTOPERAs ™ program “Finally Wagner!” mid of November as one of nine singers) and Kamohelo Tsotetsi shining and elegant with ‘ Cruda funesta smania’  (Lucia) and Figaro’s ‘Non piu andrei’ .All these young and courageous singers we may wish good luck with their  advancement  in these turbulent times.

But the surprise of the afternoon had been young Yolisa Ngwexana, a lyric soprano possessing a voluminous yet fine-tuned voice, enchanting charm, first class presence on stage and impressive expression. Here some precious is growing, please take care well. SITTOPERA ™ is convinced she possessing a silver voice for Richard Strauss. In next year’s  production of “Rosenkavalier” she will sing the Sophie.  

Engelie Le Roux accompanied secure and fine; a better instrument than just an electrical piano would have been worthy for her and the singers. 

SITTOPERA ™ has invited  Kamohelo Tsotetsi  to give in August a concert in the series   “Fine Talents & rising Stars’ at the Rand Club, Johannesburg.

Praised may also the programme, which was done fine both in design and content. You could see it was done with passion.
