Eine himmlische Stimme in Kapstadt

Konzert mit der Sopranistin Yolisa Ngwexana am 16. August

SITTOPERA ™ praesentiert und foerdert seit Jahren vielversprechende , junge suedafrikanische Opernsaenger. Eine von Ihnen, der lyrische Coloratursopran Yolisa Ngwexana  hatte bereits zwei Auftritte bei SITTOPERA, war 2022 eine beindruckende Gilda in der “Rigoletto’Produktion der “Opera company of the North’in Grossbrittanien , trat dieses jahr erfolgreich in Frankreich und in der Schweiz auf und wird im September die Clrorinda  in Rossinis’s “La Cenerentola’singen. Suedafrikanische Saenger kehren jedes jahr gerne in die Heimat zurueck ; da lag es nahe ein Konzert fuer diese vielversprechende Sopranistin im eleganten “Cape Town Club “zu organisieren .

Yolisa bereitete  ein sehr anspruchsvolles  Programm im “cross-over’Stil  unter dem Titel “Of love & sun & fun & roses – a journey’vor. Die Sopranistin  begann zwar ihre musikalische Karriere in einem Chor aber studierte aber dann auf Wunsch ihrer Familie  und ihrer Schulerfolge   Biotechnik und ist – nach oesterreichischen Maszstaeben – eine “Frau Diplomingenieur”, die auch einige Zeit in einem Labor arbeitete .  Aber die Berufung zum Singen rief und sie begann ihre Studien in Potchefstroom wo sie  in Glanz und Gloria graduierte.

Das Programm war  in drei Teile gegliedert , Teil  I  hiesz “Dreams, sun and roses and Kitsch” und praesentierte Franz Liszt’s “Oh! Quand je dors”, dann “Summertime  ‘von Porgy and Bess, das neapolitanische Volkslied “Core n’grato’von Salvatore Cardillo  und Edith Piaf’s “La vie en rose”.   Bereits hier praesentierte Yolisa eine erstaunliche Bandbreite und eine einfuehlsame Praesentation sehr unterschiedlicher musikalischer Stile.

Im II. Teil , der etwas ironisch “The Italian -inis  and -inos”genannt wurde   praesentierte Yolisa den italienischen Popsong  “Non ti scordar..”, die Arie der Musette “Quando mén vo’aus “La Boheme”und die Arie der Magda de Civry “Chi il  ben sogno di Doretta” aus “La Rondine” einer weniger popularen aber dennoch  schoenen Puccini-Oper , die als  Operettenprojekt in und fuer Wien begann bis sie kriegsbedingt als Oper in Monte Carlo 1917 uraufgefuehrt wurde.

Im III. Teil trug  Yolisa zuerst die Arie der Linda “Oh luce di quest ‘anima”aus Donizetti’s “Linda de Chamounix’ vor, dann Adeles’s Arie “Mein Herr Marquis”aus der Fledermaus und schliesslich Marietta’s lied “Glueck, das mir verblieb”aus Korngold’s “Die tote Stadt’vor.

Mit einem verdienten Da capo , “Con te partiro”, einem  beliebten italienischem Lied, schloss das Konzert.

Man sieht: ein Program  fernab der ueblichen “Heuler’, durch die Bandbreite sehr fordernd und interessant. Als junge Saengerin hatte sie den Mut, auch weniger bekannte Stuecke zu praesentieren. Yolisa  Ngwexana , nicht umsonst ‘Die Allerhimmlischste’genannt  war bestens vorbereitet und besitzt eine grossartige, wunderbare  , voluminoese aber dennoch immer fein und elegant klingende Stimme. Ihr zuzuhoeren war ein intensives, beglueckendes Erlebnis; sie hat die Gabe grosser Saenger, die Zuhoerer   fuer die Zeit ihres Konzerts in das Paradis zu versetzen. In allen Tonlagen sicher, vor allem in den Hoehen brilliant, bei Edith Piaf in ihrer Stimme “rauchig” beherscht sie in fulminanter Weise eine Vielzahl gesanglicher Bereiche. Dazu kommt eine erstklassige Buehnenpraesenz und hervorrragendes  Spiel , dasz   sie in der Darstellung voellig unterschiedlicher  Gesangswerke bewies. Ein einmaliges Erlebniss, das  zahlreiche Publikum reagierte begeistert und geradezu andaechtig , viel ( verdiente) Bravo Rufe und eine “standing ovation” . Wir haben eine grosse, zu Hoechstem berufene Stimme gehoert. Auch hat sie eine wunderbare “Silberstimme’und ist die geborene Sophie. Dazu ist sie eine Schoenheit, eine elegante Erscheinung und ein sonniger, froehlicher Charakter.  Auf ihre Art ein “Gottesbeweis” und viele Triumphe seien ihr in der Zukunft gegoennt.

Die renommierte Pianistin Tertia Visser Dowwnie , die fuer einen erkranktern Pianisten kurzfristig einsprang, begleitete  souveraen und einfuehlsam am Klavier.

Harald Sitta fuehrte humorvoll und lebendig durch das Programm.

Der Cape Town Club stellte das noble Ambiente seines Ballsaales zur Verfuegung.

Alles in allem: ein grossartiger, tief bewegender musikalischer Nachmitta in Kapstatd.

A heavenly voice in Cape Town 

A concert with Soprano  Yolisa Ngwexana on the 16. August

SITTOPERA ™ presents and supports since years promising young South African operatic singers. On of them, the lyric coloratura soprano Yolisa Ngwexana  did already two gigs with  SITTOPERA, had been 2022 an impressive Gilda in a  “Rigoletto’ production done by the  “Opera company of the North’ in Great Britain, , appeared successfully this year in France and Switzerland and will sing  Clrorinda  in Rossinis’s “La Cenerentola’ coming September. South African singers return gladly every year to their homeland; a fine opportunity to organize a concert for this  most promising singer in the elegant  “Cape Town Club “.

Yolisa prepared a very demanding program following a “cross-over’ style under the title of  “Of love & sun & fun & roses – a journey’ .This soprano started  her musical career in a choir but then studied due to the wish of her family and based on her successes in school  biotechnology and is – according to Austrian title rules –   one “Mrs Diplomingenieur”., who actually worked for some time in a laboratory.   But the calling to singing was stronger and she started her studies in  Potchefstroom where she graduated with excellence.

With a well deserved encore , “Con te partiro”, one popular Italian song the concert was closed. 

One could recognize: A program quite bfar away of the usual “earwigs”, a very demanding  broadness  and interesting. As a young singer she had the courage to present also not so well known pieces. Yolisa Ngwexana , not for nothing already called  “the most Heavenly one “was prepared to the hair  possesses a wonderful, great, voluminous but nevertheless always fine and elegant sounding voice. Listening to her was an intensive , elevating experience; she has the gift of great singers to transfer her audience for the time of the concert into paradise .Secure in all levels of tone , especiallly brilliant in the high tunes  , with Edith Piaf her voice sounding “smokey” she commands in a fulminate way Ia multitude of musical realms. Add to that a first class presence on stage and a first class playing which she proved in presenting very different  musical styles.   A unique experience , the quite numerous audience  reacted enthusiastically and devoutly, a lot of  ( well earned ) ‘bravo”shouts ,one “standing ovation” . We listened to a great, to the  most highest called voice. In addition she possesses a wonderful “silver voice “ and she is the  born Sophie. More to that she is a beauty , an elegant appearance and one sunny, joyful character. In her own way a “proof of God”. A lot of triumphs in the future she may have.

The well known pianist  Tertia Visser Dowwnie , who “jumped in” quite in the last minute for a pianist who had to withdraw due to serious health reasons accompanied in a most sovereign and sensitive way .

Harald Sitta  as MC guided  through the program in a humorous and vivid way .

The  Cape Town Club provided the noble ambient of their ball room. 

All in all: a great, deeply moving musical afternoon in Cape Town.
