MEGAN KAHTS UND DANIEL HEIDE TOUR DURCH SUEDAFRIKA – KONZERT IM RAND CLUB, JOHANNESBUERG AM 11.FEBRUAR 2023
Megan Kahts, Mezzosprano aus Suedafrika, die im Juni 2022 als Cherubino in “Hochzeit des Figaro” in einer Produktion der Oper Kapstadt brillierte,im November ebenfalls in Kapstadt ein hinreissender Ruggiero in Haendel’s “Alcina “war, im Juni fuer SITTOPERA ein glaenzendes Konzert “Baroque and Roll”gab und ueber Weihnachten erfolgreich Konzerte in Japan gab, kehrt im Februar dJ fuer eine Konzerttournee gemeinsam mit Daniel Heide nach Suedafrika zurueck. Konzerte in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Kapstadt und Stellenbosch standen und stehen auf dem Programm. Fuer SITTOPERA trat sie im Rand Club, Johannesburgs aeltesten Klub auf. Im eleganten Embiente des Klubs fuehrten Megan Kahts und Daniel Heide das Publikum durch ein Programm das dem romantischen Lied, Beethoven, der Oper und Wien gewidmet war. Eroeffnet mit dem Eichendorf Liederkreis von Robert Schumann, der ein besonders schoenes Beispiel deutscher romantischer Innerlichkeit ist. Eine meisterliche musikalische Darstellung melancholischer Gefuehle, Stimmungen und des Dialogs des Menschen mit Natur und Landschaft. Es folgte die “Pathetique” eigentlich “Grand sonate pathetique”, dem Freund und Goenner Fuerst Karl Lichnovski gewidmet, mit der Beethoven nicht ‘nur’als Pianist sondern auch als Komponist seinem Namen machte .Mit vier Liedern des zeitgenoessischen amerikanischen Komponisten Samuel Barber machten die Kuenstler einen Ausflug in die USA und kehrten mit den bekanntesten Liedern , darunter “Apre un reve’ , Gabriel Faure’s nach Europa zurueck. Die musikalische Weltreise setzte sich in Andalusien mit der Seguidillla aus “Carmen”fort .Sodann kehrte Megan Kahts, die seit 2009 in Wien lebt, mit Rudolf Siezchyinski’s “Wien, Wien, nur Du allein” in ihre Heimatstadt zurueck und entfuehrte das Publikum mit Franz Lehar’s “Giuditta’schlussendlich nach Nordafrika.
Sowohl Megan Kahts als auch Daniel Heide waren glaenzend disponiert und zeigten ein vorzuegliches Zusammenspiel. Gerade die Innerlichkeit der Schumann’schen Musik haben beide glaenzend wiedergegeben. Der seit vielen Jahren in Weimar wirkende Daniel Heide, der – wenigstens ein Positives am Corona-Razzmatazz – die elenden “Lockdowns”in den letzten drei Jahren benuetzte um alle Beethoven und Schubertsonaten einzuspielen spielte meisterhaft die “”Pathetique”und liess an ganz grosse Namen wie Wilhelm Backhaus und Friedrich Gulda erinnern. Stimme, Spiel, Gestik, Mimik und Piano vereinigten sich zu einer grossartigen Praesentation von Liedern und Arien, das mit einem Lied von Richard Strauss als Zugabe endete. Die Interpretation des Wienerlieds zeigte wie sehr Megan Kahts Herz an dieser Stadt haengt. Dasz mit einem anspruchsvollen Programm, fernab der “Ohrwuermer”konfrontierte Publikum war von Anfang an ergriffen und begeistert. Sehr viel Applaus, Bravorufe und eine’ standing ovation’ waren der verdiente Lohn fuer ein erstklassiges Konzert. Die Veranstaltung endete mit einem Sektempfang von SITTOPERA bei dem das zahlreiche Publikum Gelegenheit fand mit den Kuenstlern zu plauden, Fotos zu schiessen und Autogramme einzuholen. Dem RAND CLUB sei fuer seine ausgezeichnete Unterstuetzung des Konzerts gedankt.

MEGAN KAHTS AND DANIEL HEIDE CONCERT TOUR THROUGH SOUTH AFRICA – CONZERT IN THE RAND CLUB, JOHANNESBUERG ON 11th OF FEBRUARY
Megan Kahts, Mezzo-Sprano from South Africa who excelled in June 2022 as Cherubino in “Marriage of Figaro”, a production by Cape Town Opera , was again in Cape Town a fantastic Ruggiero in Haendel’s “Alcina “ last November , gave for SITTOPERA with “Baroque and Roll” a brilliant concert in June last year and over Christmas did successful concerts in Japan returns in February this year to South Africa for a concert tour together with Daniel Heide. Concerts in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Stellenbosch had and will be on the program. For SITTOPERA she appeared at the Rand Club, the oldest Club in Johannesburg. Within the elgant surroundings of the Club Megan Kahts and Daniel Heide guided the audience through a program dedicated to the romantic art song, Beethoven, Opera and Vienna. The concert opened with the Eichendorf cycle of songs by Robert Schumann which is a specially beautiful example of German romantic ” inwardness”.It is a masterful presentation of melancholic feelings, moods and of the dialogue between the human being and nature and landscape. Followed the “Pathetique” formal title “Grand sonate pathetique”, dedicated to the friend and sponsor prince Karl Lichnovski with which Beetoven not only triumphed as pianist but also as composer. With four songs by the contemporary US-American composer the artists made a trip to North America returning to Europe with the best known art songs, by Gabriel Faure including “Apres un reve” .The musical journey through the world continued then to Andalusia with the Seguidillla from “Carmen”. Then Megan Kahts, who lives since 2009 in Vienna, returned with Rudolf Siezchyinski’s “Vienna, Vienna, it’s only you!” returned to her hometown and finally led the audience with Franz Lehar’s “Giuditta’ to Northern Africa.
Both Megan Kahts and Daniel Heide had been brilliantly in form and showed an excellent playing together. Especially the “inwardness”of Schumann’s music both of them presented brilliantly. Daniel Heide, who since many years is centered with his work in Weimar , who – at least one positive thing of the whole Corona razzmatazz – used these awful lockdowns to record all Beethoven and Schubert sonatas then masterly played the “”Pathetique”and reminded of great names like Wilhelm Backhaus and Friedrich Gulda. Voice, play, gestic, mimic and piano united themselves to a great presentation of art songs and arias, which ended with a song by Richard Strauss as encore. The audience, confronted with a demanding program far away from “earwigs” was from the very beginning on in the grip of the music and enthusiastic.A lot of applaus, “Bravos’and a standing ovation had been the well earned reward for a first class concert. The event ended with an invitation to Champagne by SITTOPERA where the numerous audience had the opportunity to chat with the artists, shoot photos and collect signatures. To Rand Club kudos for an excellent support of this concert.
